Description: |
The Antimicrobial Resistance: Point of Care Diagnostics in Human Health program is expected to:
Support the development and/or the evaluation and/or the implementation of point-of-care diagnostic tools to distinguish bacterial from viral infections or to develop and/or evaluate and/or implement tests for at least one specific AMR priority pathogens. These tests should be easy to perform and provide a rapid answer (for viral/bacterial discrimination or for specific priority pathogens). It is hoped that they will allow a more rational use of antibiotics; Foster multidisciplinary collaborations (e.g. between health researchers, natural science researchers and engineering researchers as well as clinicians); Provide the opportunity to determine the potential for commercial viability and other opportunities for use of point-of-care technology and related knowledge in AMR. The intent of the EOI process is to bring applicants and industry together at a workshop, in an effort to foster collaborations and support the development of full applications. The full application process will involve 2 phases at a later date and will require applicants to have matching (1:1) partner funding (cash or cash-equivalent) in order for their application to be eligible. Phase 1 will be updated here as information becomes available while Phase 2 is planned to be launched at a later date. |
