The aim of this Catalyst Grant is to provide seed money to support research activities related to Indigenous approaches to wellness which represent a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities (e.g., operating grants). This funding opportunity will fund researchers who, in collaboration with the Indigenous community, will develop, evaluate, and build on existing tools and methods to better incorporate Indigenous concepts of wellness in research designs. To be considered relevant to this funding opportunity, the projects must consider the development and/or implementation of interventions such as land-based healing approaches that result in improved wellness for First Nations, Inuit or M?tis Peoples. The CIHR Institute of Aboriginal Peoples? Health and the Institute of Cancer Research will provide funding for applications that propose projects and activities targeting First Nations, Inuit and M?tis Peoples and that take place in Canada. The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research will provide funding for applications which build evidence through the application of Indigenous Ways of Knowing to understand factors and concepts related to Cancer Control, including the wellness journey from prevention to palliation.
