Description:

The CIHR Catalyst Grant program provides seed money, on a short-term basis, to support health research activities which represent a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities.

There are large gaps in the evidence available on the safety and effectiveness of drugs used by patient populations such as seniors, children, women and First Nations, Inuit and M?tis people. Hence, more information is needed on safety and effectiveness of drugs when used by these patient populations in the "real-world", outside the restrictive environment of clinical trials intended for drug regulatory approval. It is expected that this funding opportunity will provide an opportunity to explore research topics related to post-market drug safety and effectiveness in specific populations. This opportunity also supports research on ethical issues related to drug safety and effectiveness of marketed drugs in these populations.

Application Details:

Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) will not be considered through this program. For projects of a high risk nature, the potential for great scientific gain should offset the risk of failure. There should be minimal or no overlap with other funded work.

The primary objective of this Catalyst Grant program is to generate preliminary observations, data or knowledge, or to facilitate team formation, as a first step towards the pursuit of more comprehensive funding opportunities (e.g., operating grants, team grants) by researchers or teams of researchers. Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
