Description:

This program is jointly managed and funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Its aim is to promote the development of Canadian-Chinese scientific co-operation between universities, hospitals, research institutes or affiliated research organizations in Canada and China through the support of collaborative research teams.

To support joint team grants in the field of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (ARD). Within CIHR, the joint program will be part of the International Collaborative Research Strategy for Alzheimer's Disease (ICRSAD). The scientific agenda for ICRSAD focuses on the early events in ARD including risk factor identification, early diagnosis, early intervention, and prevention.

Application Details:

CIHR and NSFC will provide funding for applications that are determined to be relevant to the following research areas: Models, Biomarkers and Brain Imaging, Genetics/Epigenetics, Drug Development, Vascular Dementia, and Clinical Studies. Eligibility criteria for all CIHR research funding programs apply. Chinese applicants must meet the qualifications for applying to programs and international cooperation programs of NSFC. Please refer to NSFC website regarding the eligibility requirements. Research teams will be comprised of at least three and up to six Canadian and at least three and up to six Chinese investigators within up to two research institutions within each country. A named Team Leader in each country will represent the team grant project and be responsible for the management of the application.

Canadian and Chinese teams who wish to conduct a collaborative project under this program must submit the same applications in English to their respective funding agencies. Chinese applicants are also required to submit an NSFC application form in Chinese. The English version of the application will always take precedence. Applications submitted by only one side will not be accepted. Canadian / Chinese Team Leaders must, therefore, ensure that their counterparts submit a matching application by the required deadline. To complete the Application, follow the instructions identified in the Grants - ResearchNet "Application" Phase Instructions, along with any additional instructions found below under "Specific Instructions". Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
