In general, team grants support expert teams of talented and experienced researchers carrying out high-quality research on important health issues best addressed through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. These teams provide superior research training and mentorship environments, and support the production of new knowledge and the translation of research findings into improved health and health care.

For more information please consult the ERA-Net Neuron website. * For applicants invited to submit a Full Application on June 15, 2011, CIHR requests that the Canadian applicants applying for funding from CIHR also complete an abbreviated CIHR application and submit it using ResearchNet. The deadline for submission of this application is the same as the Full Application deadline to ERA-Net of June 15, 2011. The purpose of this additional application to CIHR is to provide CIHR with an Operating Budget Module for the project, with the amounts quoted in Canadian dollars, and a complete justification for funds requested. * To complete the Application, follow the instructions identified in the Grants - ResearchNet "Application" Phase Instructions. Application Details: The application process is comprised of two stages: Letter of Intent and Full Application. CIHR Team Grant proposals will be evaluated as a single, integrated entity. While each research component included in the application must be meritorious, it is critical to demonstrate that the CIHR Team Grant brings added value, in terms of the approach to improving the health of Canadians or strengthening the Canadian health care system.Only those who have submitted a successful LOI will be invited to submit a full application. Successful applicants funded through this funding opportunity and any other persons working on the project must comply fully with the CIHR Funding Policies. Policies and guidelines cover areas such as Applicant Responsibilities, Official Languages policy, Access to Information and Privacy Acts, and Acknowledgement of CIHR's Support. Successful applicants will be informed of any special financial requirements prior to the release of funds or when they receive CIHR's Authorization for Funding (AFF) document.
NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
