Description:

The program, established in 2005, is jointly managed and funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Its aim is to promote the development of Canadian-Chinese scientific co-operation between universities, hospitals, research institutes or affiliated research organizations in Canada and China through the support of collaborative research grants.

Teams who wish to conduct a collaborative project under this program must submit the same applications in English to their respective funding agencies, i.e., Canada-based applicants submit to CIHR and China-based applicants submit to NSFC. China-based applicants are also required to submit an NSFC application form in Chinese; however, the English version of the application will always take precedence.

Application Details:

Canada-based applicants: Eligibility criteria for all CIHR research funding programs apply. The business office of the institution of an eligible Nominated Principal Applicant generally administers CIHR funds. Refer to the Individual Eligibility Requirements regarding the eligibility requirements for individuals and institutions.

?To complete the Application, follow the instructions identified in the Grants - ResearchNet "Application" Phase Instructions along with any additional instructions found under "Specific Instructions". ?Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application. The Nominated Principal Applicant must provide a complete copy of the full application, including the China-Canada Joint Health Research Initiative application form, to the China-based Principal Applicant to include in their package to NSFC.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
