Description:

Fellowships provide support for highly qualified candidates in all areas of health research at the post-PhD or post-health professional degree stages to add to their experience by engaging in health research either in Canada or abroad.

This program provide recognition and funding to academic researchers early in their career and to provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers. Funds are available for this competition to support Fellowship award applications in specific research areas. Priority Announcements on Fellowship competitions offer additional sources of funding for highly rated applications that are relevant to specific CIHR research priority areas or mandates. he maximum amount awarded for a single award is $60,000 for up to 5 years. The value and duration of each fellowship is related to the major degree held, licensure (where applicable), location of tenure and experience of the applicant. Applications are submitted through the "201110MFE" competition of the Fellowship: 2011-2012 funding opportunity. Please see guidelines for more details.

Application Details:

Applications will be accepted in all areas of health research. Candidate must hold, or be completing a PhD or a health professional degree. PRIORITYANNOUNCEMENT FOR SPECIFIC RESEARCH AREA AVAILABLE ON CIHR WEBSITE. The stipend level is dependent upon the number of years of research or clinical training completed since obtaining the health professional degree. Upon completion of two years of postgraduate research training, the awardees may be eligible to receive a stipend increase to the higher level.

Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. This Funding Opportunity is not participating in the eApproval process. NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
