The CIHR Doctoral Research Awards consist of two programs administered through a single application: The Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Awards (CGS-D) program provides special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field in Canada. The Doctoral Foreign Study Award (DFSA) provides special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field abroad. Candidates apply to the CIHR Doctoral Awards competition and top-ranked candidates are awarded a CGS-D or DFSA depending on the proposed location of research. Both awards are of equivalent value.

Application Details:

Funds are available for this competition to support Doctoral Research Award applications in specific research areas. Please see CIHR guidelines. Doctoral Research Awards are intended to provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a PhD or doctoral degree in a health-related field in Canada or abroad. These candidates are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity.

The application process for this funding opportunity is comprised of one step: Application. Please ensure that your application is complete (including all required signatures) and submitted on time to CIHR. Effective September 1, 2008, CIHR will assume no responsibility in following-up with applicants who submit an incomplete application. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted into the competition. Your Application will be submitted using ResearchNet. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
