The CIHR Open Operating Grant Program (OOGP) provides operating funds to support research proposals in all areas of health research including randomized controlled trials to contribute to the creation, dissemination and use of health-related knowledge, and to help develop and maintain Canadian health research capacity, by supporting original, high quality projects proposed and conducted by individual researchers or groups.

The OOGP is further expected to: Support original, high quality projects or teams/programs of research; Support individual researchers and groups of researchers; Support research in all areas and disciplines with relevance to health; Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge; Contribute to the dissemination, commercialization/knowledge translation, and use of health-related knowledge; Develop and maintain Canadian health research capacity, including research training.

Applicants are advised to review CIHR's grants and awards policies and guidelines outlined in the CIHR Grants and Awards Guide.The application process is comprised of two steps: Registration and Full Application.

**Mandatory Registration Deadline is August 2013 **. Please note: Your Application must be submitted using ResearchNet. Scan and upload the signed signature pages including the routing slip in the Print/Upload Signature Pages task in ResearchNet prior to submitting your application. This Funding Opportunity participates in the eApproval process. This means that when the applicant submits their application, it will be electronically directed to the Research Institution for review and approval. The eApproval process allows Administrators at a Research Institution to review and electronically approve applications for which the applicant has identified their institution as the Institution Paid. Once the applications are reviewed and approved by the Research Institution, they will submit the applications electronically to CIHR on behalf of the applicant. When completing the application on ResearchNet, detailed instructions on the eApproval process are available in the "Electronic Approval tool for Research Institutions - Applicant's Guide" under the Project Details task. Please submit a draft copy of your application to and submit your ROLA Proposal by the internal deadline:9 September 2013. ** Full Application Deadline is 16 September 2013 at 2pm **


NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
