The Rising Star in Prostate Cancer Research program provides salary and research support for outstanding research scientists initiating careers as independent investigators in prostate cancer research.
These awards, offered annually, provide the opportunity for research scientists within the first 5 years of their first academic or research appointment to develop and demonstrate independence in initiating and conducting prostate cancer research. Rising Star awards provide a maximum of $75,000 per annum towards salary and fringe
benefits for the award recipient (based on a full-time academic or research appointment). Any
fringe benefits based on the host institution's rate and the percent of effort must be included in
the $75,000 per annum salary award maximum. Rising Star in Prostate Cancer Research awards provide a maximum of $75,000 per annum towards the direct costs of research. |

Application Details: |
In order to be eligible for a Rising Star in Prostate Cancer Research award, applicants must:
be an independent investigator; be an applied health researcher and/or hold an MD degree (or equivalent) and/or PhD degree (or equivalent); have an academic or research appointment which commences by the effective date of the award (January 2015) at an eligible institution; have held an academic or research appointment as an independent investigator for no more than 5 years at the commencement date of the award (January 2016). Full application deadline: the application and all reference documents must be
submitted online by 5:00 PM (ET) on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Please ensure that your application is complete (includes all required sections) and is submitted on time to PCC.

Separate documents required, including letters of reference, must be attached to the
application by the deadline.INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FUNDING |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
