Subject Areas: Prostate Cancer
Description:

PCF created the Young Investigator Awards program with one goal: to identify a cohort of future research leaders who will keep the field of prostate cancer research vibrant with new ideas. Applicant should be within six-years following completion of a professional degree or clinical training such as MD, PhD, MD-PhD, MPH, or equivalent.

Research proposals submitted in consideration for this award should, if successful, provide high impact to the field. ?Small-step? or incremental proposals are usually non-competitive. Applications are encouraged from early-career basic scientists, medical oncologists, pathologists, urologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, public health experts, bioinformatic experts or professionals from other medical research disciplines.

Application Details:

The award funds may be used flexibly to advance the career and research efforts of the awardee. Applicants need not be trained specifically in clinical prostate cancer research. Young Investigators may be working in basic, translational, clinical, population sciences, bioengineering or any other field that could contribute to the end of prostate cancer. However, successful applicants should be working in a research environment capable of supporting transformational prostate cancer research. Access to and interaction with a clinical environment, as well as translational prostate cancer physician-scientists, is highly desirable.

A three (3) year research proposal no greater than ten (10) pages is required. Two letters of support indicating the applicant?s strengths and potential to become an independent investigator at the end of the PCF Young Investigator Award are required: One from the applicant?s Mentor; the second from the applicant?s Departmental Chairperson or Cancer Center Director. Merge all components of the application (research proposal, letters of support and CV) into a single PDF file prior to submission. Visit www.pcfscience.org, complete the online application form and attach the PDF.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
