Description:

The goal of the Bright Focus Foundation research grants program is to advance innovative research promoting advances in the etiology, prevention, and treatments of Alzheimer's disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. This is accomplished by relatively small grants for investigator-initiated research that are designed to allow scientists the opportunity to develop the preliminary data necessary to be considered competitive for larger government or corporate types of sponsorship.

Application Details:

BrightFocus provides research funds for U.S. domestic as well as international researchers. Grants are awarded on the basis of scientific merit and relevance of the research to understanding aspects of Alzheimer's disease that lead to improved treatments, prevention strategies, and diagnoses.

You must use the online submission process which is accessed by clicking the blue arrow on the BrightFocus Apply for Grant Funding web page at: http://www.brightfocus.org/grants/apply-for-grant. BrightFocus does not require signatures at the time of submission. Given the variability in administrative time required to collect signatures, BrightFocus policy allows investigators to submit their signature pages for up to two weeks following the 'official' deadline. The Signature Page should be signed, scanned, and uploaded as a separate PDF in the application portal. The signature page should not contain any text information from previous sections, other than the title of the project.

INDIRECT COSTS MUST NOT BE LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
