Description:

The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario Research Program provides research grants to qualified investigators through three funds: Helen Pfohl Fund ? supports research on the furtherance of a cure and treatment for schizophrenia; Tam Grant Fund ? supports cause and cure- based research for schizophrenia; Bill Jefferies Fund ? supports biomedical and psychosocial research in schizophrenia

This year, we will be tendering out of two research funds: the Tam Grant Fund ($100,000) and the Helen Pfohl Fund ($50,000).

Application Details:

The objectives of the program are to fund research that: Increases knowledge of the causes of schizophrenia; Increases knowledge about treatment interventions for schizophrenia; Increases knowledge of the role of psychosocial factors in the cause and treatment of schizophrenia; Explores leading edge questions and stimulates innovation and creativity in schizophrenia research; Enhances the quality of life for those living with schizophrenia. In their cover letter, applicants should indicate the fund from which they seek support. The competition is open to individual investigators or teams of investigators based in an Ontario institution who can demonstrate the necessary research qualifications and advanced training in research methods.

The deadline for submissions is May 13, 2011. Completed research proposals can be mailed to: The Ontario Mental Health Foundation. Please note that electronic submissions will not be accepted. See guidelines for further details.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
