Description:

The Foundation will consider applications to fund original research that has high potential to enhance understanding of fetal growth and development and to promote optimal neonatal health. The goal of this program is to assist young clinician or scientist investigators to pursue original research as they start their academic careers.

The highest priority will be given to projects where matching funds are provided by the applicant's home institution. Please see the Foundations website for more detail.

Application Details:

The operating funds are available only to new investigators within 5 years of their first academic appointment: individuals with established funding portfolios are not eligible. High priority is given to projects that concern fetal growth or metabolism but any studies that involve original research in fetal or neonatal medicine will be considered. However, purely epidemiological research or clinical trials will not be considered.

Eligible studies must be basic or clinical research. The following research is ineligible: clinical trials and RCTs, retrospective and cross-sectional surveys and chart or record reviews, database explorations of all types, population epidemiology, economic studies, health services research, opinion/preference surveys, anthropological studies, and any application where the applicant is not the principal investigator.

INDIRECT COSTS OF 40% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
