Description:

NeuroDevNet supports research through the Opportunities Initiative, which funds novel research projects that impact patient care, translational models, or basic brain development and disease.

Projects funded through the Opportunities Initiative need to be constructed to provide highly synergistic approaches to the demonstration projects (currently these include ASD, FASD, and CP) or pioneer distinct areas involving other developmental disorders of the brain (see NeuroDevNet Research webpage for more details of individual Demonstration Projects, proposals are downloadable from links at: http://www.neurodevnet.ca/Research.aspx, bottom of page). Proposals must be in line with the research themes and training mission of NeuroDevNet, while providing innovative and clinically-translational approaches to study brain development. Successful projects will include innovative approaches with a high degree of potential for cross-disciplinary networking and synergism with existing NeuroDevNet efforts.

Application Details:

Investigators must be eligible to receive CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC funding. Investigators must initially submit a letter of intent, followed by the full application. Successful proposals will be funded for up to 2 years, and will receive up to $75,000 annually. Funds are available to support 4-6 projects simultaneously.

The full Opportunities Initiative application receipt deadline is August 23, 2010. Application packet compiled as a single PDF (including completed application form, CVs, budget, and partnership letters) should be delivered by email to training@neurodevnet.ca.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
