Description:

The grants program for the Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) program is a federal mechanism designed to support the operation of research and/or commercialization centres that bring together people, services and research infrastructure to position Canada at the forefront of breakthrough innovations in priority areas. In the context of the CECR program, commercialization is defined as everything a firm does that transforms knowledge and technology into new goods, processes or services to satisfy market demands.

Centres advancing to Stage II will develop full project proposals, including complete information on the Centre and its intended operations, funding requirements, the partnerships among supporters, their duties and respective contributions, and the expected research and commercialization outcomes and benefits of the project. All partnership arrangements, contributions and allocations of benefits (such as intellectual property) among parties must be fully described for a proposal to be considered complete. Please see agency guidelines for detail submission instructions.

Application Details:

The goal of the CECR program is to create internationally recognized centres of commercialization and research expertise in four priority areas in order to deliver economic, social and environmental benefits to Canadians. As established in the S&T Strategy, the priority areas include: environmental science and technologies; natural resources and energy; health and related life sciences and technologies; and information and communications technologies. There are two stages to the application process: Letter of Intent & Full Proposals.

Only those who have submitted a successful LOI will be able to submit a full application. Detailed instructions are available in the Sponsor guidelines for submission requirements.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
