Description:

Funded by the Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) since 2001, the Stem Cell Network (SCN)'s mission is to act as a catalyst for enabling translation of stem cell research into clinical applications, commercial products or public policy. In order to complement its Core Research Program, SCN is launching a new research initiative, the Impact Grant Program, which is aimed at funding one year research projects that are partnered and that have high potential for translational impact while addressing the Network's mission. In order to receive SCN funds, successful applicants must execute a Standard NCE Network Agreement, through which they will become a member of the Stem Cell Network, and take on all of the associated rights and obligations. These obligations include the requirement to provide SCN office with a project report as requested.

Public Policy Impact Grants are aimed at projects that will address public policy issues relevant to stem cell research. While projects are not required to form partnerships with industry, proposals must include specific plans to engage receptors such as basic scientists, policy makers or the public, as part of their research approach.

Application Details:

The Stem Cell Network is now conducting an open call for Impact Research Grants in three specific areas. Impact Grants are reviewed every three months; deadlines for application are indicated in the application guidelines. The Network expects to fund 10-20 impact grants over the next four years.
