The Canadian Space Agency would like to extend Canada's scientific participation in NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission by supporting the opportunity presented by the NASA Research Announcement entitled Mars Science Laboratory Participating Scientist Program (Solicitation: NNH10ZDA001N-MSLPSP).

In order to be eligible, proposed applicants must meet the requirements outlined in NASA Research Announcement NNH10ZDA001N-MSLPSP (Mars Science Laboratory Participating Scientist Program). In addition, research activities must be linked to the CSA's priorities ('Canadian Scientific Priorities for the Global Exploration Strategy') and to the CSA Class Grant & Contribution Program objectives and strategic outcomes described in the Program Overview on the CSA Website.

Details regarding the NASA Research Announcement and the Mars Science Laboratory mission can be found at: http://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/solicitations/summary.do?method=init&solId={E1A2B252-0187-1479-6860-EED6298D3060}&path=open This AO is the mechanism through which the Canadian Space Agency will make available grants to scientists at Canadian universities who are selected by NASA through the NASA Participating Scientist research opportunity described above, who are eligible per section 2.0 and who meet CSA selection criteria.

This is a two step application process. The first step will provide applicants with a letter of support from CSA to include in their application to NASA. In the second step, applicants must submit a completed Application as described below by 17:00 EST March 31st 2011. Applications sent by e-mail will not be accepted.

INDIRECT COSTS OF 20% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
