To support promising young investigators with an interest in advancing their academic research careers in pulmonary vascular diseases. Funding will be provided to research proposals that seek to explore basic, translational, or clinical research in the area of pulmonary vascular disease in adults and children to address: Understanding disease mechanisms, Genetic factors involved in disease development, Factors affecting the response to therapeutic agents, Identification of novel biomarkers, Mechanisms leading to right ventricular dysfunction and right heart failure, Identification of novel therapeutic targets or therapeutic approaches. Applicants must have a professional degree (MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent); reside in Canada, be no more than five years post-terminal training. Pfizer is funding a minimum of 3 awards up to $100,000 USD/CDN each for one year to conduct basic science, translational or clinical research generating data that will help advance the science of pulmonary vascular diseases in adults and children. |

Pfizer invites junior faculty to apply for the 2011 ASPIRE Young Investigator Awards in Pulmonary Vascular Disease Research through submission of basic science, innovative translational and clinical research proposals that evaluate pulmonary vascular disease mechanisms and outcomes. ASPIRE Young Investigator Award Winners in Pulmonary Vascular Disease Research are limited to one award per lifetime. Applications must be received by June 15, 2011, 5pm Eastern Daylight Time in the United States and Canada. Study results are expected before December 31, 2012. Applications are to be submitted to Pfizer through an online submission website. The link is provided on the Sponsors investigator-initiated research website.
