Description:

PromoScience program offers financial support for organizations working with young Canadians to promote an understanding of science and engineering (including mathematics and technology). Organizations may request funds for up to three years at a time.

NSERC will accept only one application per department. Concurrent awards must be held at different departments and applicants must demonstrate that there is no overlap between the activities proposed and those supported by other applications or active awards. The onus is on the applicant to find out what other activities at their institution are currently supported by, or being requested from, PromoScience. The proposed activities must address the PromoScience objectives and must not be for recruitment purposes. Up to five letters of reference; these are highly recommended, as applications without letters of reference may be at a disadvantage in the competition.

Application Details:

Grants may be used to cover improvements to program content/delivery, and for new programs and activities. Grants can also cover operational costs (i.e. salaries, travel, postage, materials, supplies) related to the promotion of science and engineering. NSERC's contribution is generally up to one-third of a program's funding. In past competitions, the majority of requests ranged from $10,000 to $50,000 per year.

The onus is on the applicant to submit a complete application and one that conforms to the General Presentation Guidelines established by NSERC. Incomplete applications and applications that do not meet the presentation standards may be rejected or be at a disadvantage in comparison with those that are complete and respect the presentation standards. NSERC's contribution is generally up to one-third of a program's funding. Up to five letters of reference; these are highly recommended, as applications without letters of reference may be at a disadvantage in the competition. Send one copy of the completed form and all necessary documentation to NSERC at the address shown on the Application Summary Form. Please do not bind or staple the application.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
