Description:

Research Tools and Instruments (RTI) Grants foster and enhance the discovery, innovation and training capability of university researchers in the natural sciences and engineering by supporting the purchase of research equipment and installations.

RTI Grants are divided into three categories, according to the total net cost of the equipment, i.e., excluding taxes, shipping and handling. A letter from the department must accompany every RTI - Category 2 or Category 3 grant application (Subatomic Physics only). The letter must indicate the importance and priority that the department places on the proposed equipment and the extent to which the department proposes to provide support. In the case of Subatomic Physics, all RTI Grant applications (Categories 1, 2, and 3) are reviewed by the Subatomic Physics Section.

Application Details:

A letter from the department must accompany every RTI Category 2 application. The letter must indicate the importance and priority that the department places on the proposed equipment and the extent to which the department proposes to provide support. RTI Grants must be used only to purchase the specific type of equipment for which the grant was awarded.

The applicant must complete the application and include all required documentation using the On-Line System. In addition, the Personal Data Form (Form 100) must be completed by applicants and co-applicants and linked to the application form.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
