Description: |
The purpose of the New Directions Research Program is to stimulate the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Ontario's agri-food sector through investment in innovative and high quality research in partnership with industry, rural communities/organizations, other levels of government and research institutions. The priorities for this 2013-14 New Directions program are bee health and related best management practices in field crop production. Specifically, research is sought in the following areas:
The impacts to bee health from exposure to neonicotinoid insecticide seed treatments in Ontario; Development of best management practices in field crop production related to bee health, including integrated pest management. |

Application Details: |
The New Directions Research Program is a competitive research fund open to universities, research institutes, industry, governments, organizations or partnership networks. Applicants outside Ontario may also apply if they can demonstrate how the proposed research will provide significant benefits and/or a unique competitive advantage for Ontario's agri-food industry.
A Call for Proposals is issued on an annual basis. The application procedure involves a two stage process which includes submission of a letter of intent followed by an invited full proposal. Researchers apply using the Research Management System (RMS), OMAF and MRA's on-line system for managing and administering Ministries'-funded research programs. Program documentation is accessed on the Researcher Workbench in the RMS.25% INDIRECT COSTS ARE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
