Description:

The FSRP was designed as an open, competitive research fund with the purpose of enhancing food safety in Ontario through state-of-the-art research. It is anticipated that the program will enhance knowledge and technology in food safety to assist in the development of science and risk-based food safety policies and systems. Applicants are also strongly encouraged to obtain matching funds for this program. Both cash and in-kind contributions can be counted toward matching funds.

Research needs specific to food safety have been identified in three priority areas for the 2016-2017 call. Applicants' research should address at least one specific research need within one of these three priority areas: Economic analysis; Detection and surveillance; Prevention and control of disease.

Application Details:

The Food Safety Research Program uses a two-stage application process. Stage One involves the submission of a Letter of Intent in which researchers provide an outline of their research proposal. Applicants successful at the letter of intent stage are invited to submit a full proposal as the second stage of the application process. Information on the full proposal format and deadlines will be provided to successful applicants only.

Researchers apply using the Research Management System (RMS), OMAF and MRA's on-line system for managing and administering Ministries'-funded research programs. If you have previously applied to a research program through the RMS, log in to your Researcher Workbench to access the Call documents and application form. If you have not previously applied to Ministry-funded research program through the RMS, you will need to register to create a user file before you can apply; please see sponsor website for details. Note: The RMS does not allow submission of applications after the deadline

INDIRECT COSTS OF 25% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
