Description:

The Canadian Liver Foundation Graduate Studentship Program enables academically superior students to undertake full-time studies in a Canadian University in a discipline relevant to the objectives of the Foundation.

A studentship award will provide funding to the student for two years? stipend. Two brief written reports suitable for a lay audience are required: (i) an interim progress report must be received by September 1 of the following year, and (ii) the final report outlining research findings is due at the end of the funding period.

Application Details: One graduate studentship may be awarded to a student in Ontario whose research project is related to hepatobiliary research. The applicants must be accepted into a full-time university graduate science program in a medically-related discipline related to a Masters or Doctoral degree and hold a record of superior academic performance in studies relevant to the proposed training. Canadian citizens, landed immigrants and permanent residents will receive first consideration. Applicants must be sponsored by a faculty supervisor with a record of productive medical research and sufficient competitively acquired research funding to ensure the satisfactory conduct of the student's research during the term of the award. The supervisor's publication record should indicate significant contribution to liver related studies. The supervisor must agree to provide personal, direct and continuing supervision of the student.A single PDF file of your entire grant application (excluding your academic transcript and three referee assessments) should be sent by e-mail to Billie Potknjak at bpotkonjak@liver.ca by the deadline date. Page 6 of the Application Form (Sections #27 to #32) is to be completed by three referees (other than the sponsoring supervisor) and submitted together with the original hard copy of your application. Alternatively, referees may submit their assessments directly to the CLF by mail or courier, or email them to Billie Potkonjak at bpotkonjak@liver.ca. All three referee assessments must be received by the deadline date. As well, the original hard copy of your completed application including your original academic transcript must be received at the CLF National Office by the deadline date.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
