Description:

The Lawson Foundation invites letters of intent to strengthen the delivery of diabetes prevention, care and management programs and services through innovation. The Diabetes Funding Opportunity is unable to support: Basic science research; population-wide health promotion initiatives; scholarships; continuing education of applicant(s); operating budgets of service agencies or educational institutions; projects already completed; or direct support for individuals, including for the purchase of assistive devices and medical supplies.

The Lawson Foundation seeks projects that: Demonstrate innovation : a project has the potential to create a model and/or best practice(s) applicable to other settings. Are community-centred : the target community is engaged in the project's priorities and processes and results are shared with the community in a meaningful manner. Promote effective partnerships and collaboration : project encourages the community, organizations and institutions to connect and engage in purposeful ways. Are aligned with a system: project is aligned with federal, provincial/territorial, or regional health priorities. If a project is not aligned with system priorities, the letter of intent must present a strong case for support. Are sustainable : a vision and plan are articulated for the project's continuation after the grant to strengthen and support the community's efforts to prevent and manage diabetes.

Application Details:

The diabetes funding strategy supports innovative, evidence-based projects in Canada that promote effective partnerships and lead to enduring benefits for the community. Maximum grant amount is $200,000 payable over 24 months (maximum $100,000 per 12-month period).

INDIRECT COSTS POLICY HAS NOT YET BEEN ESTABLISHED

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
