Description:

Funds are available from the CRS to support new or continuing research activities by independent scientists or small groups of investigators. Operating grants are usually awarded for a period of two years for a maximum amount of $60,000 per year. Application deadline for submission of a grant is the fifteen of February (February 15th) of each year. If the day in question falls on a Saturday or Sunday then the day of submission will be on the following Monday. All applicants must hold an academic appointment in a Canadian university or accredited institution.

This year, The Cancer Research Society wishes to make a specific call for proposals in the field of environment-cancer. Up to four (4) grants will be attributed to this field and supported by The CRS' Environment-Cancer Fund. Moreover, through a partnership with CNETS (Carcinoid NeuroEndocrine Tumour Society) Canada, The CRS will be co-funding one (1) operating grant on carcinoid neuroendocrine tumours, and is thus requesting applications on this type of tumours. For more details, please see the grant application form. Please read the General Guidelines very carefully for their application requirements. Lung Cancer: And finally, one (1) operating grant on lung cancer will be co-funded for the first time through a partnership with the Bazinet Family Foundation.

Application Details:

Renewal applications are expected to demonstrate the progress achieved with the money received to date, and they will be judged not only on the merit of the scientific proposal but also the progress made to date. Different basic research categories fall within the realm of the operating grants. Research funds cannot be used for equipment or travel.

The deadline for submission of a grant or fellowship application is Tuesday, February 15th, 2011. Applications must be courier stamped on this day. Depending on the type of application, applicants must use the following two applications: ?Application Form_2011 CRS Operating Grants? OR ?Application Form_2011 CRS Fellowships? to submit their application, available for download on your right. These application forms must be sent to the CRS no later than on February 15th, 2011.Please note: if the application is approved, the certificates for research involving human subjects or animals or biohazards requiring containment [herein referred to as the Certificates] may follow at a later date but no later than August 31st of the same year.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
