Applications are invited from PGY1-PGY4 resident physicians who are in good standing at a Canadian university department of anesthesia. The CAS also offers support for individuals committed to doing research during their residency training. Granted annually to the highest-ranked applicant in the Residents' Awards competition, the award will provide up to $10,000 to support anesthesia-related research performed by a resident in Canada.

The applicant must be an anesthesia resident in the first four years of training (i.e., PGY1, PGY2, PGY3, or PGY4) at the time of application and must also be in good standing at a Canadian university department of anesthesia at the time of application. Previous entry or award (refer to General Guidelines and Conditions) in this category will not preclude eligibility.

Application Details: Residents must be members of the CAS and must propose to carry out an original project within Canada and meet eligibility requirements for a Residents' Award.The following documents must accompany the submission: In addition to the CommonCV required from the applicant (see General Guidelines and Conditions), the validated Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Common CV of the applicant?s supervisor must accompany the submission. A letter from the applicant?s supervisor that specifies the extent to which the applicant will contribute towards the research project and the time required to carry out the project. A letter from the residency program director that confirms eligibility of the applicant, verifies that the applicant has had a primary role in protocol development and submission of the application, and confirms the likelihood that the project can be completed within the term of residency.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
