Level I Research Awards have an Award Maximum of $10,000. Research can be: A literature review, critical literature review, or annotated bibliography. Empirical research, including qualitative or quantitative research, pilot testing, development or testing of instruments or questionnaires. A Meta-analysis.

Examples of tasks that may be undertaken as part of the Level I Research include: pilot projects, annotated literature reviews, the development or testing of instruments or questionnaires, and the administration of a survey.

Application Details:

Level I Funding is designed to: Increase the capacity of researchers to compete successfully for research awards and other funding; Promote the development of quality research proposals; Assist in the development of collaborative partnerships. Examples of tasks that may be undertaken as part of the Level I Research include: pilot projects, annotated literature reviews, the development or testing of instruments or questionnaires, and the administration of a survey. Any researcher working in Canada is eligible to apply. The majority of data collection must be conducted within Ontario communities and focus on Ontario residents. For submissions originating outside Ontario, collaboration with Ontario organizations or researchers is preferred.

The Level I research award program has been revamped to include a two-stream application and evaluation system. All applications must be received before 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date, by applying online. You can apply for any open application from the front page of the OPGRC website. NOTE - SIGNATURE REQUIREMENTS: When submitting an application, send one copy of the signed Cover page or Certifications Page by fax or by scanning and attaching it as a .gif, .tiff, or .jpeg file. Faxed or scanned pages must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
