Description:

A Network of Centres of Excellence for multidisciplinary research into prions and prion diseases. Provides training, network opportunities and facilitates the transfer of research results to commercial uses.

Bootstrap - The Business Opportunity Support and Technology Assessment Program is intended to provide support for the commercialization of technology developed by investigators in Canada who are involved in prion research. The program intends to encourage collaboration amongst industry, Canadian universities, and research organizations achieving an academic-industry partnership.

Application Details:

Project funds are dependent upon the continued funding of PrioNet under the NCE program. Researcher must meet the eligibility requirements for funding by the Tri-Council and qualify for membership in PrioNet.

It is emphasized that external funding at least equivalent to 20% of PrioNet's contribution must be sought through partnerships and investors. A Letter of Intent (LOI) must have first been submitted to PrioNet?s Administrative Centre. Following review of the LOI, the Executive Committee issues invitations for Full Applications to selected applicants. By submitting an application, you agree that PrioNet may share in the revenue generated from intellectual property arising from the research, the amount of which can be discussed and agreed upon by the parties acting in good faith.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
