Description:

The Klarman Family Foundation is interested in providing strategic investment in translational research that will accelerate progress in developing effective treatments for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.

Clinical psychotherapeutic studies, medication trials and research in the medical complications of these disorders are outside the scope of this Program. The complete application process requires an online submission as well as seven copies of the document that was uploaded. The online version must be submitted by Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 12:00 Noon, U.S. Eastern Time (UTC/GMT-5). Application Details:

Examples of funding areas include but are not limited to molecular genetic analysis of relevant neural circuit assembly and function; animal models created by genetically altering neural circuits; testing of new chemical entities that might be used in animal models as exploratory treatments; and brain imaging approaches that identify neurochemical pathways in patients with these disorders. The Medical Foundation division is accepting applications from investigators who hold a faculty appointment at nonprofit academic, medical or research institutions in the United States, Canada and Israel.

Two-year awards totaling $400,000 USD ($200,000 per year) and one-year pilot studies of up to $150,000 USD will be awarded for the funding period of June 1, 2010 ? May 31, 2012 and June 1, 2010 ? May 31, 2011 respectively.

INDIRECT COSTS OF 10% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
