Grant Amount: $50K PA FOR FIVE YEARS
Deadline: Dean's: Oct 02, 2009
Internal: Oct 09, 2009
Sponsor's: Oct 16, 2009

Subject Areas: Community Health, HIV/AIDS, AIDS
Description:

The OHTN Scholarship Award is intended to afford a new investigator the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their ability to independently initiate and carry out a program of HIV/AIDS research, unhampered by the necessity of carrying out the full teaching duties expected of a regular faculty staff member.

Community engagement in HIV research is viewed by the OHTN as an essential mechanism to ensuring that research is relevant to community needs. The OHTN also expects that funded researchers understand the HIV epidemic and its impact on people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS. You can contact Jennifer Major, Manager, Ethics & Research Development (jmajor@ohtn.on.ca) if you require assistance.

Application Details:

Candidates for the OHTN Scholarship Award (SCH) must hold a PhD or a health professional degree (or equivalent) such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, or nursing and have shown significant promise of attaining competence as an independent investigator. Candidates still in training at the time of application must hold a faculty appointment at the time of taking up the award.

Candidates are strongly advised to pay close attention to the particular application requirements for this award category. Attention to all relevant details is critical to ensuring that your application will be competitive. Print one (1) copy of your electronic Application before you submit it online on OHTN's grant application system. A letter from the Department Head at the host institution is required indicating support of the proposed award.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures).
