Description: |
Clinical research is defined as research, which is of direct relevance to patient care. Studies involving animals will be considered only if the animals are required as an immediate patient surrogate and this should be indicated in a written statement attached to the application. Applications are to be submitted to the Foundation by 5:00 pm EST on the deadline date. The submission must be sent to the Foundation in two parts: Email a PDF format file of the complete application package to psif@psifoundation.org no later than 5:00 pm EST on the deadline date
AND Mail or courier one paper copy of the complete application package containing all required original signatures. This must be postmarked by Canada Post or courier date-stamped no later than 5:00 pm EST on the deadline date and delivered to the Foundation's offices
Submit applications at least three months in advance of the proposed commencement of the project. |

Application Details: |
Principal Investigator must be a practicing physician. Applicant must possess an academic appointment,Fellows are eligible to apply for research grants, but are required to have a co-investigator who has an academic appointment. Fellows must provide evidence of having official hospital status, which should be in the form of a letter from his or her supervisor or department chair.
The duration of projects considered by the Foundation will be for a maximum of two years with the possibility of renewal for one further year. Except under unusual circumstances, the Foundation cannot consider applications for projects requiring more than $85,000 per year. Research applications will be assessed on an equal weighting basis of scientific merit and clinical relevance.INDIRECT COSTS MUST NOT BE LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
