The purpose of the Steacie Fellowship is to enhance the career development of outstanding and highly promising scientists and engineers who are faculty members of Canadian universities by providing respite from teaching and administrative duties to focus on their research. Up to 6 Fellowships are awarded annually.
Each Fellow receives a research grant of $250,000 and will be invited to submit an application to the Research Tools and Instruments Grants Program for equipment funding related to their Steacie research.
All nominations need to be reviewed by the Core Planning Group. Western is able to put forward 6 candidates for the award - if there are more than 6, the Core Planning Group will select which candidates will be submitted this year.
