If we determine that you have submitted your protocol to the wrong committee, we will contact you and let you know. However please note that we do not review new protocols until well after the deadline. If you have submitted to the wrong committee your protocol will be returned to you to transfer it to the correct form. Review of the protocol will be delayed until the next cycle of meetings.

•	Involve or relate to a medical or physical intervention or therapy?

YES

If you answered YES to any of these questions you must submit your project to the HSREB.

If you answered NO to all the questions then you must submit your project to the NMREB.

•	Take place in a medical or health care setting or use or relate to medical or health records?

YES

•	Involve patients, medical, dental, nurses, other allied health professionals or care givers?

YES

•	Use or relate to new, innovative or novel medical techniques or therapies?

YES

•	Involve physical exertion beyond normal walking?

YES

•	Involve physically invasive contact or take samples of bodily fluids or tissues by invasive measures other than buccal swabs?

YES

•	Require Xrays, MRIs, CT or PET scans?

•	Require the ingestion of any food, or beverages?

If you answered YES to any of these questions you must submit your project for HSREB Full Board review.

If you answered NO to all the questions then your project may be eligible for HSREB Delegated Review. Check Guideline 2-G-007 of the HSREB Guidelines for a full explanation of what is eligible for Delegated Review.

•	Does the study use patients deemed to be at-risk (e.g. critically ill, infants)?

•	Is there an unknown, moderate or high physical or psychological risk for healthy volunteers or healthy patients?

•	Does the study involve moderate or high risk interventions, tests or procedures?

•	Does the study involve interventions that take place during surgery or that may interfere with the course of normal medical treatment?

If you answered NO to all the questions then your project may be eligible for review by one of the Sub-REBs delegated to conduct Delegated Review. Check Guideline 1-G-004 Delegated Review to determine if this is appropriate.

•	Are you faculty member or a student in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities?

YES

If YES, your protocol must be submitted to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Sub-REB.

•	Are you a student in the Department of Political Science? (excluding Ph.D. candidates)

YES

If YES, your protocol must be submitted to the Department of Political Science Sub-REB.

•	Are you faculty member or a student in the Department of Psychology?

YES

If YES, your protocol must be submitted to the Department of Psychology Sub-REB.

•	Are you a faculty member in the Department of Sociology AND is this submission for Undergraduate Course-related research?

YES

If YES, your protocol must be submitted to the Department of Sociology Sub-REB.

•	If you answered YES to any of these questions then you must submit your project to the REB indicated.
•	If you have a faculty or departmental REB you may not use another faculty or departmental REB and you may not submit the protocol to the NMREB unless you have the prior approval of your faculty or departmental Sub-REB AND the NMREB.

•	If you answered NO to all of these questions you must submit your project to the NMREB for Delegated Review.
