Department of Medical Imaging Retreat- April 2, 2011
As the Department of Medical Imaging evolves into a single integrated academic and clinical department city wide, a retreat was held on Saturday April 2, 2011 to set the stage for program based structure aligning with the newly announced organizational structures of LHSC and SJHC introduced last week by CEO's Ms. Bonnie Adamson and Dr. Gillian Kernaghan. The morning introduced background information with invited guests to stimulate focus group discussions in the afternoon with the formation of city wide programs. The incorporation of business tools into the development of program priorities is a first for the department as it also served as an educational learning experience (duly accredited Royal College credits) for all involved. Continued communication with departmental forum and meetings along with further development of the programs is the next priority.

“Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it has become a lost tradition.” This quote in The Practice of Radiology Education: Challenges and Trends expresses the book's underlying concern: that the reciprocal partnership between radiology teaching and education is vital and yet often neglected in academic radiology.
The Practice of Radiology Education —second in a series on radiology education—serves as a reference guide for readers interested in improving radiology teaching programs and resident education. Based primarily on the experiences of educators in the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, the book presents an international perspective on how to best implement postgraduate training programs and improve radiology education. Although radiologists are the target audience, the book contains universal themes and recommendations for postgraduate physician education in any medical specialty. The authors' main goal is to emphasize the symbiotic relationship between teaching and education … Read More
