Deadline for United Way Early Bird pledges October 28
An important date to keep in mind for United Way donors is October 28. That is the deadline for submitting your pledge to qualify for the Early Bird prize draw. There are many exciting prizes that offer some extra incentive for supporting this year’s campaign, and I encourage you to participate. Dick and Beryl Ivey have also offered an incentive for donating to the United Way with their creation of the Ivey Leadership Challenge Grant. To increase the number of leadership gifts ($1,000 or more) and to boost the level of giving to the United Way, the Iveys are providing up to an additional $100,000 in matching funds.
A new personal gift of $1,000 or more will be matched dollar for dollar. With existing leaders, the grant will match the portion of an increase exceeding 10 per cent over last year’s gift. For example, if the previous gift was $1,000 and is increased to $2,000 this year, the Iveys will provide an additional $900, matching the portion exceeding a 10-per-cent increase.
