What are my key priorities for the 2005-2006 academic year?
A top priority will be drafting an updated Strategic Plan for distribution to the campus community in the spring of 2006, and approval in the fall of 2006. For this reason, other priorities have to be flexible during the coming year as we adapt to the new directions being considered by the Strategic Planning Task Force.
However, as in past years, my priorities are set out in Western’s Strategic Plan, Making Choices, which was approved by the Senate and Board in the fall of 2001. These priorities fall under four broad categories:
- Setting directions
- Keeping academic priorities first
- Ensuring open administration and effective communication
- Strengthening ties with the external community
