Welcoming the Class of 2009
With September now upon us, our first priority as faculty and staff is to extend a warm welcome to the 32,000 students now converging on campus – particularly the 6,000 first-year undergraduates, many of whom are experiencing their first time living away from home.
With a collective grade average of 85 per cent coming out of high school, the Class of 2009 is another outstanding group of young people who have chosen our University to further their education and enrich the transition into their adult lives.
Strengthening Western’s reputation for delivering the best student experience among Canada’s leading research-intensive universities is critical to attracting the brightest students. Each of us plays an important role in delivering on that promise, and I thank you for your commitment to making Western the very best it can be for our students.
