It just tastes better knowing Nicolina Ficca and Sandy Paiva are the ones serving up your Tim Hortons coffee with a double-double of conversation at Lucy’s everyday.
Day in and day out, the pair bring good cheer to the myriad of customers who make their daily java jaunt to Somerville House.
“It is so uplifting just walking by their counter on other business, let alone stopping to be served by them,” says Kinesiology professor Bob Vigars. “The merriment, courtesy, and friendly chatter that emanates from these two effervescent women makes the day for many of us.”
While Ficca has worked the longest at Lucy's Tim Hortons outlet, Vigars says her subtle yet solid leadership skills never fails in recreating a positive down-home working atmosphere with each new partner. Smiles and good service have become the Tim’s trademark.
He adds he’s delighted to see Western paying tribute to front line people who are not in the same position to garner public recognition and accolades that are available to teachers or coaches.
“When I see people like Nicolina and Sandy giving their best every day in the job they do, it uplifts me and makes me feel thankful and appreciative of my role here at Western,” says Vigars. “And they inspire me to remind myself to always give my best to my students and student-athletes under my charge.”
