The Office of Faculty Recruitment and Retention (OFRR) is designed to assist new faculty members and their families in making their transition to Canada as smooth as possible.  Guidance will be provided prior to the move to ensure that you bring all of the necessary immigration and customs documents required for your arrival in Canada.

Work Permits

In order to legally work in Canada, foreign nationals must apply for, and receive, a work permit as a skilled worker from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Work permits allow foreign nationals to work temporarily in Canada in the specified occupation. While working under the authority of a Work Permit, employees must apply for Permanent Residence in order to remain in employment at Western once the Work Permit (or its renewal) expires.

The Office of Faculty Recruitment & Retention assists all new full-time faculty members in obtaining a Canadian Work Permit for employment at Western.

Detailed information on Canadian work permits can be found on the CIC website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/
