Fast Fact

  • Did you know that small yogurt containers are not recyclable, however the larger ones are. If you purchase a large container and decant into a reusable container, you can recycle the larger one and not worry about throwing the small containers into landfill.

Marketing Effectiveness AwardFacilities Management at The University of Western Ontario Takes Top International Marketing Effectiveness Award - 2009 Summit MEA

 

August 26, 2009 – Facilities Management has been selected as a finalist in the 2009 Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award competition for promotion of the enhanced recycling program for their client, The University of Western Ontario.

“We have made leaps and bounds in getting the recycling program to be top notch and we needed to have an awareness campaign to complement those efforts,” says Brandon Watson, Communications Officer, Facilities Management.

Over the past year, recycling on campus received a boost. Working with partners to develop a composting program, matching the municipal recycling criteria and improved signage on recycling bins.

The Summit MEA competition is based on the premise that the goal of marketing communications is to change, influence or reinforce a target audience's knowledge and/or attitudes. Using this premise as a basis for its judging criteria, the competition is becoming a true arbiter of marketing communication effectiveness.

During the 2009 event, judges analyzed submissions and selected only 18% to receive the top spots.

“Distinguishing between creativity and effectiveness can be s a difficult task.  That makes winning a Summit MEA is a significant achievement.” Said Jocelyn Luciano, Executive Director for the Summit Awards. “The combination of experienced judges and our tough criteria ensures that only deserving submissions receive recognition.”

The Summit International Awards organization is devoted to furthering excellence in the communications industry. It administers rigorous award competitions throughout the year with the goal of recognizing companies and individuals that do more than what is expected.
