Reminding drivers to watch their speed

Highway Traffic Act Offences

When operating a motor vehicle on campus the driver and vehicle needs to be properly licensed and the vehicle insured against liability. Western focuses on student’s safety and with thousands of pedestrians on our pathways, sidewalks and roadways daily considerable care and attention must be given. It is the university’s expectation that drivers obey speed limits (40 km/hr), stop signs traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and other traffic laws. Special Constables at The University of Western Ontario are designated as Provincial Offences Officers thereby enabling traffic tickets to be served under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). Questions regarding infractions can be directed to the Campus Community Police Service situated in Lawson Hall.
