1. Stipends. The policy of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is that all qualifying M.Sc. and Ph.D. students receive an annual stipend for the duration of the residency period of their graduate degree program (see Section 2, below). The stipend for students with no external awards, and within the normal duration of their graduate program, is composed of funds from the supervisor’s research grants together with a scholarship from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS). Note that only full-time students who meet the conditions for progression towards their degree, as established by the Physiology and Pharmacology Graduate Program, are eligible for SGPS financial support.

2. Duration of stipend support. Provided they remain in good standing, students are guaranteed funding only during the residency period of their degree program. Normal program duration times are 6 terms for M.Sc. students, 12 terms for Ph.D. students, and 15 terms for direct-entry PhD students or for students who transfer from the MSc to the PhD program.
3. Teaching assistantships. One half of the salary earned from a Teaching Assistantship is paid in addition to the graduate student’s total stipend.
