1. Stipends: The policy of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology is that all qualifying M.Sc. and Ph.D. students receive an annual stipend for the duration of the residency period of their graduate degree program (see Section 2, below). The base stipend for a student within the normal duration of their graduate program, is composed of funds from the supervisor’s research grants together with a scholarship from the university. Total base annual stipends for M.Sc. and Ph.D. Students, as of January 2012, are summarized in the Table below. The total annual stipends (i.e. living allowance plus university scholarship) for students holding external awards are greater than the base amounts. Please note that these amounts include the cost of tuition fees.

Normal program duration times are 6 terms for M.Sc. students, 12 terms for Ph.D. students, and 15 terms for direct-entry PhD students or for students who transfer from the MSc to the PhD program.
3. Teaching assistantships: Graduate teaching assistants assist with the teaching of undergraduate courses. One half of the salary earned from a Teaching Assistantship is paid in addition to the graduate student’s total stipend.
