PHYSIATRIST
The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, The University of Western Ontario (Western), is recruiting a Physiatrist with an interest in Neurorehabilitation (Spinal Cord Injury, Acquired Brain Injury or Stroke Rehabilitation). The appointment will be at the appropriate academic rank dependent on qualifications and experience.
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is located at the Parkwood Hospital site of St. Joseph’s Health Care London. Currently the UWO Department of PM&R is a dynamic group of nine full-time physiatrists as well as a number of active adjunct members. The Department has a strong tradition of research and a highly productive research program. In education the Department spearheads the undergraduate musculoskeletal program at the Schulich of Medicine & Dentistry, and has a new highly successful residency program which began in 2005. The hospital provides strong departmental and programmatic support such as nurse clinicians and a family doctor hospitalist. Parkwood’s regional programs serve Southwestern Ontario with a catchment area of over 1.5 million people. The Department is responsible for 88 rehabilitation beds.
The successful candidate would participate in the rehabilitation management of patients admitted to Parkwood Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Care London. The academic appointment would be in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, UWO. A strong interest in research and/or teaching is prerequisite for this position.
Qualifications include an MD certification or equivalent, certified or eligible for certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
