Funding

All students admitted to the Program will receive full funding for all five terms of the program. The basic funding package will be comprised of the following:

  • Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)
  • Western Graduate Research Scholarship (WGRS)
  • Any additional funds mandated by the Collective Agreement between the University and the Teaching Assistants' Union.

Exceptional applicants may be offered, in addition, one of the following Entrance Scholarships: Provost Entrance Scholarship ($4000); Dean's Entrance Scholarship ($2000); Chair's Entrance Scholarship ($1000). Decisions about entrance scholarships are made by the Program Committee and the Graduate Chairs of the two constituent Departments. In addition, students may apply for the Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Masters Scholarship available from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council.
