Attrition Rates

 

The Department has compiled attrition rates beginning with the cohort of 2002, the first year for which reliable data was available, and continuing through to the cohort of 2010.

Cohort of 2002: Nine (seven men, two women) entered the program. Two (both men) left the program before completing the PhD. All the remaining students have completed the program. Attrition rate = 22%

Cohort of 2003: Eight (seven men, one woman) entered the program. Three (all men) left the program before completing the PhD. Four (three men, one woman) have completed the program. One currently remains in the program. Attrition rate = 38%

Cohort of 2004:  Eight (four men, four women) entered the program. Two (both men) left the program before completing the PhD. Five (two men, three women) have completed the program. One (woman) currently remains in the program. Attrition rate = 25%

Cohort of 2005: Ten (seven men, three women) entered the program. Four (three men, one woman) left before completing the PhD. Five (three men, two women) have completed the program. One (man) currently remains in the program. Attrition rate = 40%

Cohort of 2006:  Ten (eight men, two women) entered the program. One (man) has left the program before completing the PhD. Five (four men, one woman) have completed the program. Four (three men, one woman) currently remain in the program. Attrition rate = 10%

Cohort of 2007:  Fourteen (eleven men, three women) entered the program. One (man) left the program before completing the PhD. Four (all men) have completed the program. Nine (six men, three women) currently remain in the program. Attrition rate = 7%

Cohort of 2008:  Nine (six men, three women) entered the program. One (man) left the program before completing the PhD. Eight (five men, three woman) currently remain in the program. Attrition rate = 11%

Cohort of 2009:  Ten (five men, five women) entered the program. One (woman) left the program before completing the PhD. Nine (five men, four women) currently remain in the program. Attrition rate = 10%

Cohort of 2010:  Twelve (eight men, four women) entered the program, all of whom currently remain in the program. Attrition rate = 0%
