Dr. Ang was the winner of the 2013 M.E. Kirk Award for Excellence in Education presented at the Annual Pathology Holiday Celebration.  Congratulations Dr. Ang, this is very well deserved.

“Almost 30 Pathology Faculty, Staff and Graduate Students came together for a Department outing on November 15th, 2013 to watch the London Lightning crush the Windsor Express at Budweiser Gardens. It was a great opportunity to break away from the lab and the office to interact with other members of the Department.”

emilyCongratulation Emily!

The Department of Pathology congratulates Emily Keats (PhD) in successfully defending her thesis.  Emily is leaving us to start her Masters of Public Health at the University of Toronto. 

Welcome Dr. Sangle

The Department of Pathology welcomes Dr. Nikhil Sangle!  Dr. Sangle will hold an academic appointment at Western University as an Assistant Professor and a clinical appointment at London Health Sciences Centre as an Anatomical Pathologist.  Dr. Sangle is a British-and American-trained pathologist with 10 years of training and experience in surgical pathology. He has done 3 pathology residencies, one in India, followed by the 2nd at Cambridge University in England, UK, and a 3rd pathology residency from University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He has further completed a fellowship in hematopathology. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology in USA, UK and India, and has post-graduate degrees of all these 3 countries. 

Dr. Sangle has published 16 peer-reviewed papers and he is the first author on most of them. For his research work he has received two national-level awards in the USA, some other awards, and two research grants.

Since 2008 Dr. Sangle has performed pathology teaching for medical students at the University of Utah Medical School.  He has presented at ten national, seven regional, multiple medical student labs, and multiple unknown slide sessions in this program, including national USCAP and ASCP presentations.


yiming Congratulations to Pathology resident, Dr. Qi Zhang, who is the father of a second son, Yiming, born on Saturday, August 3rd at 10:10am, weighing in at 7lbs 3oz.
coco Congratulations as well to Pathology graduate student, Di Chen, and her husband Jian Li, who are proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Ke Lin “Coco”.  Born on Sunday, July 14th, she weighed in at 3.7kg and was 51 cm long.

Celebrating our Commitment to the Community

Beginning in September 2013, a new initiative will be launched at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry which celebrates the commitment of our people and the tremendous work that they do in supporting the community through volunteer commitments on their own, or through groups and programs at the School or University.  For more information on this initiative please click here.
