"We are delighted to let you know that three Grad students from our program have been awarded in the poster competition of London Health Research Day, held on March 20, 2012. Three hundred and fifty students and trainees from health science labs throughout Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London participated in this event. Thirteen posters in 13 different areas have been selected for awards. Following are the names of the winners from our program:

  

 Matthew Riopel 3rd Year PhD

Supervisor: Rennian Wang.

  

Emily Keats 3rd Year PhD

Supervisor: Zia Khan.

  

Arthur Lau 4th Year PhD

Supervisors: Anthony Jevnikar and Zhuxu Zhang.

  

Let us all congratulate these three students for their achievements and congratulate all the other students for being able to present their research on London Health Research day which is the largest research day of its kind in Ontario. We encourage all the students and post-doctoral fellows to participate in this kind of events in the future, so that more of our trainees can get chance to be recognized for their work."

The activities of the Pathology department in research, teaching and clinical service reflect the contributions of its members at the University of Western Ontario and the London Health Sciences Centre (University Hospital, Victoria Hospital and St. Joseph's Health Centre).

The department offers residency training programs in anatomical pathology, general pathology, neuropathology, and medical microbiology.

Our graduate program offers training to science, medical and dental graduates, as well as to clinical residents who wish to get solid research training in an academic environment in both full-time and part-time graduate programs. The department also offers a 22 month course and practicum based program to equip graduates to act as Pathologists Assistants.

The department also offers undergraduate pathology courses to medical students, dental students, nursing students and several undergraduate pathology courses in the joint specialization in Pathology and Toxicology in conjunction with the Dept of Physiology & Pharmacology (open to students in the BMSc program).
