Dr. Rodrick Lim, Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Dr. Lim is an associate professor and Site-Chief of the Paediatric Emergency Department at the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre. He began his training at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario where he completed his B.Sc in 1992 and M.D. in 1995 at Queen's University. In 1995, Dr. Lim joined the University of Western Ontario for his Paediatric Residency training. Upon completing his residency in 1998 he stayed on at Western for his fellowship in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Lim has enjoyed teaching all levels of learners, and has been awarded over 9 teaching awards ranging from Undergraduate Teacher of the year, Postgraduate Teacher of the Year, to USC Teaching Honour Roll Award of Excellence. He also is co-founder of an annual Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course, held in London, Ontario.
Dr. Lim's administrative responsibilities include PGE Committee Paediatric Emergency Program, Unit Council Paediatric Emergency, Paediatric Steering Committee, ED/UCC Services Council, Chief Selection Committee - Emergency Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, ED/Division Recovery Task Force Meeting, and the Emergency Department Executive Physician Advisory Committee.
Dr. Lim has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, ranging from clinical studies including Validation of Ottawa Knee Rules in children, Comparison of amethocaine gel versus 1% lidocaine infiltration on wound healing, Naproxen versus Acetaminophen for Therapy of Soft Tissue Injuries to the Ankle in Children, to educational research including Self-reported experience and competence in core procedures among Canadian pediatric emergency medicine fellowship trainees, and Barriers to Sexual History Taking in Adolescent Females with Abdominal Pain in the Paediatric Emergency Department.
