There are also group meetings between the candidates and the Program Director and the candidates and the Chair of the Department in order to exchange information about the Program
Each component of the interview process is assigned a score. The scores are ranked separately for each component and a final ranking is then achieved. Candidates whose rankings show a large discrepancy in the various components are discussed at the ranking meeting attended by the PGE members and the final rankings are approved.
The ranking list is then sent to CaRMS and final selection is done by CARMS as per their established process.
Ontario International Medical Graduate Program candidates are interviewed in like manner and ranked separately from the CaRMS candidates.
The application packages of Gulf State candidates are initially screened by the Program Director and based on their written application selected candidates are offered an interview. The interview process is identical to that used for the CaRMS candidates. The candidate is then discussed by the Postgraduate Education Committee and a decision is reached as to whether to offer him or her a residency position.
The Postgraduate Education Committee as a whole is responsible for selecting and ranking candidates.
